As if even the air had stopped moving after what had just been revealed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The bride stood motionless, holding the open bag in her hands. Her fingers no longer trembled as much \u2014 not because she was calmer, but because something inside her had already crossed a point of no return.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The dog remained in front of her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Silent now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But alert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Its body slightly lowered, eyes fixed on the groom, as if it was still counting every possible danger in the room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The groom took another step back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

But his eyes weren\u2019t looking at her anymore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Calculating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Searching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The bride noticed that too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And something in her expression hardened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2014 No, she said softly. You already did that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A long silence followed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Then the dog stood up again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Not aggressively this time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Just firmly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Like it had decided the moment had changed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It walked slowly toward the bride.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Stopped beside her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And pressed its shoulder gently against her leg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A reminder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The bride swallowed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Her voice was quieter now, but steady.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But before he could take another step\u2014<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A wall of silence and instinct.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The groom stopped.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For the first time, uncertainty fully showed on his face.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The bride looked at both of them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Then slowly closed the bag.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2014 Call the police, she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Her voice didn\u2019t shake anymore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But the bride didn\u2019t look at them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She only looked at the dog.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The dog lowered its head slightly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As if it already knew.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And in that broken silence of the church\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n
the wedding was no longer a celebration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
